GRUMPY
“Is it raining again today?” thought Grumpy as he got out of bed, “I don’t like being wet, or dealing with crazy drivers and wet roads.”
“Daddy, daddy” shouted his sons Vince and Mateo, “We’re hungry, we want food.”
The girls were too busy playing with some very loud toys. Who gave Hanna and Marie those singing dolls? I need to remember to remove that person from our Christmas invitations—can you un-invite a family member to Christmas? Why are those kids so loud? How many times do I need to tell them that children should be seen and not heard? I just wanted to rest—that’s not going to happen—now I have to get up.
As Grumpy starts getting dressed, he noticed scratches on his feet and legs. Where did those come from? Suddenly he realizes—his wife’s toenails! Why does she have to warm up her cold feet with my feet and legs? Can’t she just put on some socks? And please trim those toenails. Huuumph! She is so lazy! The only job she has to do all day is to take care of those poor little kids and she cannot even find time to trim her nails??
“Sarah, will you get up? The kids want food and I have to go to work. Can’t you hear them?” Grumpy says as he is getting dressed. After consuming a quick cup of not perfect coffee, he gets into his car to face crazy drivers and wet roads.
GRATEFUL
“Is it raining again today?” thought Grateful, as he got out of bed. “Wonderful! We really need some rain with all the drought we’ve been facing."
“Daddy, daddy” shouted his sons Vince and Mateo, “We’re hungry, we want food.”
The girls were too busy playing with some loud toys. Who gave Hanna and Marie those singing dolls? They are having so much fun playing together. I must remember to thank that family member when I see them at our Christmas gathering. I’m really impressed with how they are developing their verbal skills and ability to communicate. I have a friend whose child struggles with speech. I must remember to pray for them.
As Grateful starts getting dressed, he notices scratches on his feet and legs. Where did those come from? Suddenly he realizes—his wife’s toenails! After 27 years of being married his sweet wife still loves to cuddle with him and play footsie. She’s precious. What a dedicated mother, she works so hard she does not even have time to trim her nails! Her days are filled with taking care of the four blessings God gave us. I could never do what she does day in and day out.
“Sarah, thank you so much for the four kids you gave me. You are a gift from God to me,” Grateful says as he finishes getting dressed. After drinking a quick cup of nearly perfect coffee, he gets into his car. “Thank you God that I have a car to drive and a job to drive to,” Grateful prays as he drives to work.
What glasses are you going to wear this holiday season?
Happy Thanksgiving!
